Role Overview: As Head of External Relations, you will lead all aspects of external engagement—covering community relations, communications, stakeholder management, policy engagement, and lobbying activities. You’ll play a vital leadership role, shaping the company’s public profile, influencing policy, and ensuring positive engagement across key projects. Key Responsibilities: Drive stakeholder engagement and policy alignment to support business objectives. Lead and mentor the external relations team, fostering a respectful and high-performing work environment. Shape the company’s external brand, reputation, and public profile with industry, government, and communities. Develop policy positions and manage consistent consultation responses. Represent the business in senior industry working groups and government forums. Support project and community teams to secure support for renewable energy projects. Oversee community engagement strategies including investment fund discussions and shared ownership. Guide the Communications Manager on media, PR, social media, and content strategy. Manage communication plans, press releases, and interaction with third-party PR agencies. Requirements: Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint). Strong verbal and written communication skills with a track record of delivering impactful presentations. Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder engagement experience, particularly within renewable energy or community-focused sectors. Strategic thinker with experience in aligning external engagement with business objectives. Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and ability to build trust across varied stakeholders. Experience working with policy and regulatory frameworks in Scotland and the wider UK. Relevant professional qualifications are desirable but not essential.
