In addition, the trainee ACP has a professional responsibility to themselves and the trust to achieve academic competency and contribute to the remaining 3 pillars of advanced practice which are leadership and management, education and research. The trainee ACP will develop a commitment to innovation and governance through clinical audit and research. This embeds best practice is strived for, innovation is promoted and the need for change is constantly being challenged, paying particular attention to supporting patients care closer to home as part of admission avoidance and acute care at home.The trainee ACP has a professional responsibility to ensure their progress, both clinically and academically, to enable them to qualify as an accredited advanced clinical practitioner with Health Education England and progress into the role of a qualified advanced clinical practitioner once all competences have been achieved.
