Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 14-year-old boy living in Abercynon with my dad, step mam and 4 siblings. I have a syndrome called Potocki Lupski Syndrome. I have additional needs such as lacking road safety awareness. You’ll have to keep a close eye on me because I can wander off or get a bit rough when playing, especially if I am over-excited.
I crave attention from adults and am happy to do most activities if an adult is present. I like doing arts and crafts and being outside.
PURPOSE OF JOB
To support me out in the community, encourage my independence and living skills.
HOURS OF WORK
6 hours per week
Days and times flexible, can be discussed at interview
RATE OF PAY
£13.50 per hour and 0.40p a mile
TASKS INVOLVED
· Supporting me to access local activities, visiting parks or playgrounds
· Encourage my independence, living and social skills
· Teaching/assisting me to engage in my surroundings and to learn from them
· You will help me to learn about money management, for example, making a payment in the shop and counting my change
· Support to focus on road safety
· Having fun with me! Making the most of our time together
· Ensuring my safety at all times, providing constant supervision
· Using your car to take me places of my choice
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
· Someone who is proactive and focused on supporting me achieve my goals and independence
· A patient, kind and friendly person is important
· You must be sensible, mature and reliable
· Someone responsible for my safety
· Full UK driver’s license and car is essential
ABOUT THE JOB
This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
