Pain Nurse Specialist - Part time 30 h/w- Internal Only
To work across the inpatient and outpatient Pain Management setting. Clinical duties will include a variety of tasks including inpatient ward rounds, outpatient clinics, provision of education within the Trust, audit and service development needs.
Assess patients, plan and implement care and provide advice and guidance on pain management, to patients, carers and staff within all specialities across the RBHFT.
Assist in the management of patients receiving analgesic techniques (e.g. PCA/epidural/nerve blocks).
Main duties of the job
Work as an integral member of the team. Working closely with the MDT and identified patients.
Assist in the day to day running of the Pain Service, participate in all clinical duties inclusive of inpatient review and outpatient clinics/procedures.
Act as a role model providing specialist pain advice and specialist techniques through evidence-based practice.
Assist in the management of epidural, local anaesthetic analgesia, opiate infusions and other analgesic techniques.
Provide key education throughout the Trust.
Develop own skills, taking responsibility for continuing professional development and performance, maintaining own portfolio in accordance with post-registration requirements.
Work to achieve competencies appropriate to grade. Identify own development needs in relation to current practice and future plans, setting personal development objectives.
Understand the workload targets set for the clinical area and demonstrate commitment to their delivery.
Participate in departmental projects when required.
