Job Description:
The role of a Childrens Support Worker is to provide support and guidance to children who have experienced domestic abuse.
You will work with children aged 0-18, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment where they can express themselves freely.
Your duties will include:
• Supporting children in decision making and promoting choice and independence
• Planning and delivering sessions to children on a 1:1 and group basis
• Delivering innovative group sessions that coincide with local and national days of interest/event/celebrations
• Organising consultations, meetings with children and parents to ensure parents are included in their child`s play and development
• Maintaining client records, both written and electronic
• Liaising with statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure all children are safeguarded
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• A qualification in Social Care (NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
• Significant experience of working with children, young people and families
• Knowledge and understanding of issues that relate to vulnerable children, young people and families
• Experience of being able to calmly respond to difficult situations and handle emergencies without immediate supervision
• Ability to deal with a demanding workload and prioritise effectively
• Experience of using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook to an intermediate standard
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining integrity and confidentiality
