About Us:
Brimington Care Home is located in a quiet village on the outskirts of the large market town of Chesterfield. It is a purpose-built care home with 42 resident bedrooms, supported by a friendly and committed team fully trained in providing care for older people who require residential care or who are living with dementia and other complex conditions.
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Person to join our friendly team at Brimington Care Home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We are currently offering 40 hours per week, including some weekend work.
Hourly rate: £12.70 per hour.
What does the job role involve?
The maintenance person will ensure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard and provide the residents with a safe, comfortable, and pleasant environment in which to live.
The role includes but is not limited to:
* Carry out repairs as required or contact engineers/service agents where applicable.
* Undertake basic visual electrical checks on all equipment, ensuring that all plugs and cables are checked for signs of damage. Any faults are reported to the Home Manager and Electrical Contractor.
* Ensure that daily/weekly/monthly fire checks are completed, including the fire alarm system, fire extinguishers, fire doors, and sprinkler system recording findings.
* Pre-weekend checks; lights, electrical, heating, prior to the weekend or bank holidays.
* Ensure monthly meter readings of gas, electricity, and water are submitted to the Administrator/Manager on specified dates.
* Undertake general redecoration works as instructed by the Home Manager.
* Undertake ground maintenance, keeping the grass cut, shrubs, bushes, and hedges pruned, and the site generally weed-free.
* Maintain resident’s privacy and communicate with nursing staff regarding works that will affect resident care.
* Participate in the collation of key performance indicator data and evidence as directed by the Home Manager.
* Any ad hoc duties to meet service delivery for our home.
What makes a successful candidate:
* Must have maintenance experience (e.g., minor electrical, plumbing, joinery).
* Knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations.
* Previous experience in a care environment is an advantage.
* Must have a driving license and own transportation.
* IT literate, able to use Microsoft Office applications.
* Good communication skills.
* Confident team player.
* Willingness to receive training on current Health & Safety/Fire/EHO issues.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Ability to follow and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
