A week in the life of a Navy CSRAT ET Communications and Radar Technical Trainer: Provide mentoring and deck plate training to U.S. Navy sailors in Aegis and non-Aegis ship classes regarding the operation and maintenance of communications radio equipment and surface search and navigation radars that would typically be associated with the Navy’s Electronics Technician rating. These systems include VHF, UHF, and HF transmitters, receivers and transceivers, SHF and EHF systems, and SPS-67 and 73 Radars, IFF and TACAN, etc. Perform training assist visits on the above equipment and systems in support of the ISIC and ship to improve sailor expertise in operating and maintaining their equipment. To a lesser extent, perform occasional readiness evaluations (REs) such as RE2, RE5, RE6 and RE7 on all classes of ships in support of the TYCOM to assess equipment readiness. Trainers will use Navy PMS, INSURV Inspection Guides, and relevant Navy and equipment technical manuals as the basis for their training and equipment assessments. Training assist visits and REs will include missions that normally last three to five days per ship at navy bases and shipyards with an expectation of being out to sea overnight one night a month and very infrequent travel to Mayport, FL and Rota, Spain. AMS1 Requirements Possess an active Secret clearance. High School Diploma 20 years of Navy experience. Retired E7 or above Electronics Technician (ET) or LDO/Warrant Officer who has served as an EMO.
