Through our collaboration with customers, partners, communities, and wider industry we will deliver an infrastructure fit for a better future.About the projectDue to continued growth in our Water sector, we are recruiting for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Northumbrian Water Framework.Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by Northumbrian Water to the Living Water Enterprise to help shape and deliver its strategic infrastructure upgrade programme with contracts valued up to c.£670m to Costain over 15 years.What does an Apprenticeship at Costain offer me? The level and training provider for your apprenticeship will depend on the skills you present at interview. The Early Careers team will register you with a suitable training provider who can support the delivery of your qualification. Being an apprentice means you will work both on-the-job with your project at site, and off-the-job with the provider.When taking on one of the many apprenticeships on offer by Costain, you will be supported by your project line manager and team, the Costain Early Careers Team, and the training provider of your academic qualification. The training provider may be a college, a university or even an independent training provider.You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship by your local team and line manager, and you will be given time to carry out your studies with the provider etc. Your on-the-job training will be in line with the work available on site but will afford the opportunity to ensure that you are given on site experience required to meet the technical and competency levels in order to achieve your apprenticeship goals.What will the programme involve?• A recognised qualification: Level Civil Engineering Technician (36 months + End Point Assessment)• Day or block release at College working towards your qualification• A mentor to support you through your EngTech• Attendance on apprentice development programme• On-going support and reviews on your progress• 6 monthly pay increases based on performance and attendance• Options to attend career events and promote the business• Training in line with your qualification, to help personal development• The opportunity to progress onto a further apprenticeship / chartershipResponsibilities• Assist with setting out• Preparation of work plans and reports• Assist with developing construction methods• Assist with the preparation of briefings• Site reporting and monitoring of site progress• Site inspections and surveys• Assist with monitoring and ensuring the works are carried out safely and to design requirementsSafety• Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety• Contribute to safety initiatives• Promote and maintain a positive safety culture on the projectQualifications- Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 4/C in Mathematics, English Language & or Science/Engineering subject- Minimum of 96 UCAS Points, at A Level / T-Level, all subjects considered- Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered- Vocational equivalents at level 3 or higher will also be considered as equivalent to UCAS points- Functional Skills Level 2 will also be considered as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4/CAbout you- An organised individual that can work well to deadlines- Someone who is creative with a keen interest in the latest technology- Someone that enjoys challenges and problem solving in their day to day work- Communicating clearly, both written and verbally- Works well within a team, but equally on your own- Building and maintaining positive working relationshipsAdditional Requirements*Candidates will be required to achieve appropriate security and medical clearances; these will be instigated on receiving a conditional offer of employment.*Please note that if you are invited to interview, we will require you to produce your passport and/or right to work documentation.*As some of our project sites are based in remote locations, it is worth noting that you will be required to have the ability to travel to the site.About UsCostain helps to improve people\\\'s lives with integrated, leading edge, smart infrastructure solutions across the UK\\\'s energy, water, transportation and defence markets. Under the new contract, Costain will work with Northumbrian Water and its key partners where the main scope of work will include design, construction and commissioning of new water and wastewater treatment assets, asset renewals/modifications, refurbishments, and extension to treatment works.
