Operations Director - Power Transmission & Distribution
Balfour Beatty Power T&D has an exciting opportunity to appoint an Operations Director to lead our Scotland portfolio. The role can be based from our offices in Maxim, or any of our other Scottish locations.
Ultimately we are looking for an established business leader who can influence, create, and then articulate strategy into implementation. Key focus areas for the role include:
* Maximising the opportunities with the SSE portfolio, leading the winning and delivery of multiple projects across our three core disciplines of OHL, Cabling, and Substations;
* Ensuring that the safety performance, financial performance, and growth ambitions meet or exceed budgeted targets, deliver value and profitable margins;
* Maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction through collaboration with the client, meeting and exceeding expectations;
* Developing a diverse and inclusive culture, creating a high-performing, engaged workforce.
What you'll be doing
As Operations Director, you will have the following accountabilities:
* Support work-winning activities as required.
* Manage the performance and success of customer relationships to ensure customer expectations are managed and achieved to retain customers.
Ensure safety targets and standards are maintained by:
* Knowing what safety excellence looks like and communicating safety with passion and credibility to inspire, motivate, and lead the project team to achieve the vision.
* Fostering a continuous improvement culture by actively seeking input from all members of the project team and encouraging them to implement safety improvements.
Ensure sustainability targets and standards are achieved by:
* Actively engaging with the customer to understand and deliver their key sustainability objectives;
* Promoting Sustainable Solutions around all operations, particularly those related to efficient management of Waste, Energy, and Water;
* Leading effective Community Engagement Plans and Skills programs where required.
Additionally, you will:
* Understand the relevant Contract terms and conditions for the project.
* Deliver financial performance of those projects under management, including appropriate risk management to ensure that financial targets and objectives are met or exceeded.
* Quantify all project risks to ensure that accurate information is provided.
* Appreciate and understand the commercial implications and drivers within the construction process and incorporate these within decision-making working closely with the Commercial Director.
* Participate in work-winning providing operational support to the work-winning team to ensure that appropriate cognizance is taken of all safety, operational, and logistical issues in compiling tender proposals.
* Provide support to the proposals team in ensuring that operational components of submissions are produced effectively and reflect the requirements of the project under consideration.
* Ensure the project teams understand their roles and responsibilities.
* Support, guide, and empower Operational Teams.
* Motivate the team and manage performance.
* Develop high-performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent, and support coaching and development.
