The Cedars is looking to recruit a part-time/full-time innovative and enthusiastic HCA to join our highly skilled team.

The post will be clinical and suitable for a highly competent HCA/Assistant Practitioner. The successful candidate will work within our Medical Centre.
Pay will be dependent on experience - GOOD!
Hours - 30-36 hours per week (will include an 8pm finish on a Monday evening).
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes.
2. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
3. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.
4. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required.
5. Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
6. Carry out BMI checks as directed.
7. When trained, undertake venepuncture.
8. When trained, administer flu vaccinations.
9. When trained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse.
10. Carry out ECGs as requested.
11. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
12. Provide support during minor operations as required.
13. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
14. Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance.
15. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy.
16. Ordering medication.
17. Compile the PPA medication monthly.
18. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.
19. Process routine blood forms for patients and liaise with the patient/carer to book an appropriate appointment.
