The Role:
We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team and assist in the production of drawings and plans for UK Planning Application Block Plans specific to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar photovoltaic (PV), and wind farms. As a CAD Technician, you will be instrumental in converting design concepts into comprehensive drawings that adhere to regulatory guidelines, particularly tailored to support planning applications for renewable energy projects.
Key responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with project managers, planners, and other stakeholders to create accurate and detailed 2D drawings and plans based on project requirements and specifications.
2. Transform design concepts, sketches, and PDF drawings into digital formats using AutoDesk AutoCAD.
3. Experience, but not essential, in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360, for streamlined document management and collaborative workflows.
4. Produce high-quality drawings that comply with UK Planning Application guidelines, including site block plans, elevations, and sections.
5. Incorporate annotations, dimensions, and other necessary details to ensure clarity and accuracy in the drawings.
6. Review drawings for compliance with local planning regulations, building codes, and standards, including BS EN ISO 19650-2.
7. Assist in the preparation of planning application submissions by providing accurate and up-to-date drawings and supporting documentation plus maintain accurate records.
8. Maintain a library of standard details, symbols, and templates to streamline the drafting process and ensure consistency across projects.
9. Provide technical support and assistance to colleagues and clients regarding AutoCAD software usage, best practices, and planning application requirements.
10. Report to the BIM Manager on project progress, issues, and challenges related to CAD drafting and planning application requirements.
What we are looking for:
1. Diploma or associate degree in drafting, CAD technology, or a related field such as Civil Engineering / Architecture.
2. Previous experience in a CAD drafting role, preferably within the architecture, engineering, or planning industry.
3. A high degree of initiative and strong problem-solving capability.
4. Experience of project design lifecycle and document management from inception through to construction delivery.
5. Experience in preparing drawings for UK Planning Applications and Knowledge of UK planning regulations, building codes, and standards would be desirable.
6. Familiarity with a Common Data Environment (CDE) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360 would be desirable.
