Role Overview
As a CAM Engineer, you will be an integral part of a team focused on ensuring the smooth production of our innovative products. You will help develop and implement the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes, with a strong emphasis on CNC machine tools, robotic cells, and laser ply projection processes. You will be responsible for providing technical support and problem-solving to ensure high-quality, repeatable, and timely production.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Design & Support: Define, design, and validate manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Programming & Systems Support: Program and support CNC machine tools, robotic cells, and related processes, including 5-axis programming, laser welding, and cutting.
Quality & Continuous Improvement: Develop standard operating procedures, work instructions, and quality control methods to ensure processes meet defined performance standards. Lead lean projects to drive efficiency and process improvement.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external suppliers, ensuring manufacturing processes are aligned with the latest technologies and standards. Participate in QRQC meetings, structured problem-solving exercises, and rate readiness activities.
Risk Management: Analyse manufacturing risks using tools like PFMEA and SPC to ensure repeatability and sustainability of processes.
Tools & Technologies:
Familiarity with CAD systems (Ideally CATIA V5)
Experience with programming languages (e.g., ISO, C++, VBA)
Knowledge of ERP systems, PLM, and Cascade
Experience with Delmia or other robotic control systems
Proficient with MS Office suite and Windows operating systems
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Engineering degree/HND or equivalent experience
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in composites, CNC machine tools, and robotic cells
Experience in Lean Manufacturing methodologies
Time-served in a toolmaking or similar engineering role
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic environment with a hands-on approach
