The Commissioning Engineer will play a pivotal role in managing the commissioning process for mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems on high-impact projects.
Purpose of the Role: As a Commissioning Engineer, you will manage and oversee the commissioning of M&E systems for water infrastructure projects. You will ensure all systems are fully commissioned to meet client specifications, contributing to the successful and timely delivery of projects. This role is crucial in maintaining the quality and performance of key infrastructure across the Thames Valley region.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Review tender documentation and ensure systems are ready for commissioning.
2. Lead commissioning reviews at the design stage, including reviewing M&E specifications, drawings, and schematics.
3. Prepare and execute detailed commissioning plans and strategies, ensuring seamless project delivery.
4. Collaborate with Project Teams, clients, consultants, and services sub-contractors to ensure commissioning is completed to the highest standards.
5. Attend commissioning meetings and provide progress reports, highlighting any potential issues.
6. Visit project sites to ensure that systems are ready for commissioning and sign-off.
7. Facilitate client and consultant system demonstrations, ensuring successful handovers.
8. Address and resolve any commissioning or snagging issues during and after project completion.
Competency Requirements:
1. Strong knowledge of commissioning processes for mechanical and electrical systems.
2. Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
3. Proactive, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage multiple projects.
4. Strong IT literacy, especially in documentation and reporting tools.
5. SMSTS qualification and relevant CSCS card are essential.
6. Willingness to travel across the Thames Valley Region.
Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications:
1. Experience in the commissioning of M&E systems on infrastructure projects.
2. Relevant professional qualifications in construction or engineering (desirable).
3. Proven ability to manage commissioning processes from start to finish.
4. Experience resolving post-project commissioning issues, including snagging and defects.
