The Royal Shakespeare Company is looking to appoint a Head of Puppets for the upcoming production of My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, in London.
This position is offered initially as a fixed term contract until March 2026, commencing on 09 January 2025.
As Head of Puppets, you will manage the Puppetry Team in facilitating the smooth running of each performance from a puppetry perspective, as well as ensuring that all of the show's puppets are well maintained and show-ready, both throughout the rehearsal processes and for the duration of the show's run.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:
* Experience in a senior Puppetry role working with a variety of puppets, in both size and operation, in a live theatrical production.
* An understanding and practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices of all areas of Puppetry in live performance.
* Prior experience in puppetry making and maintenance.
* Experience in creating and maintaining puppets to an initial design.
* Experience of working with puppeteers in live theatre performance.
Rehearsals will take place in London, prior to the show transferring to the Gillian Lynne Theatre, London.
