Consultant in Adult Psychiatry - Mid Cornwall
Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
Are you ready to make a difference in mental health care? Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an innovative and passionate Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to work within our Community Mental Health Team in the Mid Cornwall area, based in St Austell.
This is more than just a role; it's an opportunity to shape the future of mental health services in Cornwall. As we embark on an exciting journey of transformation, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a new 'core model' of mental health care, emphasising a stronger interface with primary care.
In this dynamic community-based position, you'll find the perfect balance of clinical responsibilities and the chance to influence service development. Whether you're passionate about pioneering new ways of working, interested in teaching, or considering research, we encourage you to bring your vision to life with us.
We're committed to supporting our team members and are open to discussing competitive recruitment and relocation packages to welcome the right candidate to Cornwall.
The successful applicant will qualify for recruitment incentive to help with the costs of relocating to this area.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will collaborate with fellow Consultant colleagues to provide comprehensive mental health services across the Restormel area, serving a district population of approximately 118,000. This area is covered by one Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) with two consultant psychiatrists.
You will provide coverage for surgeries located in St Austell & Newquay area, with outpatient clinics held in both locations.
As a Consultant, you will offer clinical leadership within the team, focusing on the patients you personally engage with. Care coordination is not part of your responsibilities.
This role will include supporting resident Doctors. These trainees will primarily be involved in community-based activities but will also have on-call duties for inpatient services. You will serve as the Clinical Supervisor for the resident doctor, with dedicated time allocated each week for supervision.
