Job summary Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant neurosurgeon. The appointee can undertake a wide range mixed practice if experience and requirement of the service demands. The successful candidate is expected to complement the existing consultants' subspecialties interests and develop their own clinical specialist service. It is advantageous if there is interest in spinal dysraphism, management of intradural spinal pathologies across the age range amongst other specialist interests. The post holder may have to travel between sites for providing clinical, administrative and training functions. This will be job planned if required and travel compensated as per government rules. Main duties of the job The job is advertised as 10PA. Extra PAs may be available for undertaking further clinical activities, administrative, managerial, teaching and external roles. The job requires being on call with departmental adult (1 in 14) and paediatric consultant (1 in 5) on call rota if paediatric practice is included in the job plan. The on call rota is non -residential. The new consultant will be supported in discharging professional duties. Administrative support and office space will be made available on appointment. The consultant will have equal access to all clinical facilities, professional supports, junior doctors and allied health staffs as members of the broader team. 1.5 PAs are available for mandatory training, appraisal, CPD, audit, governance, job planning and teaching and training in day-to-day practice. The Trust has the arrangements to ensure that all surgeons have an annual job-planning, appraisal with a trained appraiser and support surgeons going through the revalidation process.
