The Head of role recognises the above-and-beyond capabilities of senior professionals and the additional leadership responsibilities that they assume. As a Head of you’ll be leading your functional area, developing strategic relationships, managing a substantial budget and leading larger teams. You will be expected to generate internal and external thought leadership and to drive change across the firm.
At this stage of your career your responsibilities may include:
Technical Capability
Provide vision, inspiration and impactful advice to challenge senior leaders.
Break down complex, strategic issues into clear action plans, recognising the implications of proposals and acting to overcome barriers.
Role model a ‘solution-focused’ and positive approach to solving problems and develop thinking on a range of options, exploring several possibilities.
Client Development
Work closely with clients and senior stakeholders on strategic issues across functions.
Develop insights into the commercial and strategic context of the firm.
Build a network across the firm’s influencers and decision-makers.
Enhance the reputation and raise the profile of the firm in the market and maintain a strong external network.
Develop and drive the strategy and business plan for your team, measuring progress and performance regularly.
Work Management
Inspire the team to do their best and provide direction on how to get decisions made.
Work with agility, re-prioritising in line with the firm’s changing needs and dealing with resistance robustly.
Organise team resources to deliver efficiently and within budget.
Identify and implement cost and resource efficiencies across operations and evaluate proposals to determine cost and benefit to the business.
Working with Others
Promote the importance of diversity and challenge unconscious bias and excluding behaviours.
Ensure seamless and consistent cross-function / cross-team service.
Build positive relations with stakeholders across different functions, offices and cultures and communicate to all audiences with authority and credibility.

Listen to clients and external experts to seek opportunities to drive value to clients and the firm and promote a culture that supports creativity, curiosity and ambition.
