We are growing our Planning Enforcement Team at Melton and a key position has become available in our busy, professional and dedicated Development Management team as a Planning Enforcement Officer.
Melton is an exciting and attractive Borough where the Council is successfully balancing its pro-development policies in its Local Plan with the need to maintain its attractive rural, built and historic environment. We are proud of our brand recognition as the Rural Capital of Food.
You will undertake and assist with the investigation of alleged breaches of planning control, negotiate improvements where formal enforcement action may not be expedient, and pursue formal action where necessary including the serving of enforcement notices, dealing with some appeals and, in the most extreme cases, working with our Legal team to secure prosecution through the Courts.
You will carry out the full duties of the post in accordance with the legislative requirements and the Councils statutory duties, policies and priorities. You will also play a key part in helping us shape the Planning Enforcement Service that will better meet the needs of the Borough's residents and businesses.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised person with excellent written, numeracy and verbal communication skills. You will be educated to degree level or similar or willing to commence study to achieve an RTPI recognised qualification.
Relevant experience in Planning Enforcement at Local Authority level is desirable in this role.
If you are committed to helping us shape and protect our environment in an ambitious rural Local Planning Authority we would be pleased to hear from you.
