Role: Assistant Professor in Business & Psychology (Global College)

Contract: Full time (35 hours per week), Open-ended
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable educator to teach on our Introduction to Business Management and Introduction to Leadership, Motivation and Psychology (LMP) courses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Business and/or Psychology and education, with the ability to inspire and educate students as part of the Global College team.

The Global College brings together academic pathways and pre-sessional English provision across Dubai, Malaysia and Scotland, and enables Heriot Watt to strengthen its academic excellence and provide an invaluable experience for students transitioning from Schools to Higher Education. Within Dubai, the Global College has been established since 2008 and support the university in widening access to students both locally and internationally. The Global College runs the most successful degree entry programme in the UAE in terms of quality and reputation, and this has resulted it becoming an extremely popular entry route to Heriot-Watt university with over 600 students enrolled this year.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver engaging Business and LMP curriculum for students, ensuring alignment with academic standards and educational objectives.
2. Utilise a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote student engagement and understanding.
3. Assess student progress through assignments, exams, projects, and other forms of evaluation, providing constructive feedback and support for individual growth.
4. Attend and contribute to Course Boards and Assessment Boards as appropriate.
5. Contribute to the administration associated with the course delivery.
6. Participate in external engagement activities for the Global College.
7. Stay informed about current trends, developments, and best practices in Business and LMP education, participating in professional development activities and conferences as appropriate.
8. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and a passion for learning.
Please note that this is not exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake other relevant duties commensurate with the grading of the post. Activities may be subject to amendment over time as the role develops and/or priorities and requirements evolve.
Education and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* Degree in Relevant discipline.
* Teaching qualification
* Experience of Teaching Business and Psychology at Higher Secondary or University Foundation level.
* Teaching experience within the British Education system.
* Effective student engagement skills.
* Collaborative approach to work.
* Ability to set and monitor quality standards.
Desirable Criteria
* Masters in relevant discipline.
* Expertise in one or more other courses within the Global College Dubai programmes
* Experience of course/programme level management.
* Experience of developing innovative learning via VLE
* Ability to develop academic leadership at course /programme level.
