Job summary
The population covered by the service is 285938 of which 96725 are older people. The service provides two inpatient wards, one dedicated Memory service, one Care Homes and Dementia Team (CHADT), one Mental Health Assessment and Liaison Team for the elderly (MHALT), and two Community Mental Health teams - North-East and South-West. The post holder works with the South Team out of the South-West Team.
The South CMHT service for Southwest York Locality as well as Selby has an over 65 population of about 22000. The CMHT provides assessment and treatment services from Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm, which include the provision of care for older people with functional mental health problems as well as complex organic care for patients in their own homes. The entire southwest team receives about 400 referrals each year, with the South team receiving around 50% of these referrals. The post holder is expected to see approximately 6 to 8 new CMHT patients a month and 8 to 10 review CMHT patients a month. At the time of writing, there are no CTO or section 37/41 patients. Usually, there are no more than 1 or 2 patients a year per consultant under MHA.
Main duties of the job
This is a replacement post (due to the current substantive consultant moving to a different local team). This is a substantive less than full-time post, though candidates wishing to work full-time (10 PA) are encouraged to apply. There is a high chance that an additional 2 PA can be added to make the post full-time to backfill another team. As it stands, the Consultant will provide input working to a 6 direct clinical care (6DCC) and 2 supporting professional activities (2SPA) work programme for the South team.
