An amazing opportunity has arisen within the Acute Respiratory Assessment Service (ARAS) to work alongside the specialist nurses, supporting the service provision of Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Asthma Biologics. We welcome applications from nurses who have experience in managing and supporting patients with respiratory illness to enable them to live a healthier lifestyle. The right candidate will help develop the services further and support the team to deliver sessions within the community closer to the patients' homes.
Main duties of the job
We welcome applications for this band 5, 12-month fixed term contract (we can consider secondment if permission is given by the line manager).
For applicants who wish to develop their knowledge and skills further with respiratory illness/Disease.
You must have post graduate experience as a band 5 nurse and be able to evidence experience caring for respiratory patients in the acute setting.
You must possess excellent communication skills, time management, be able to work well within a small team and be able to work to deadlines.
The role will be split between two services, so being able to adapt to change is a must.

To be responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate nursing care for patients designated to their care.
To work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team ensuring patients receive appropriate interventions to improve their health and maximize their level of independence.
To always work to the NMC Code.
To supervise non-registered staff as stipulated by the NMC under the requirements of delegation.
Provide effective leadership and assist with the management and organization of the unit/department in the absence of the Ward manager or deputy.
To actively support safe and timely discharge for patients to their own home/permanent residence.
To comply with the Trust's vision, values and behavioral compact.

Qualifications
* Degree in Nursing
* Clinical Teaching experience
* Teaching qualification
Experience
* Experience of working in an acute hospital or community healthcare setting
* Experience of caring for patients with respiratory disorders i.e., COPD/Asthma etc.
* Recent experience of working as a registered nurse
* Post Graduate Qualification in COPD/Asthma
Knowledge & Skills
* Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information
* Able to work without supervision
* Competent in the use of IT such as Microsoft Office
* Evidence of CPD
* Knowledge of national health and social care policy
* Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines e.g. NICE guidelines, NPSA alerts, current nursing legislation
* Knowledge of National guidance for Respiratory care IE NICE
* Knowledge of Pulmonary Rehabilitation guidelines
* Venepuncture and cannulation competency
Physical Skills
* Ability to assist patients to move as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy

Salary: £28,407 to £34,581 a year Pending Pay Award £29,970 to £36,483
