Role: Telecommunications Engineer
Location: Birmingham (Field & Office Based)
Salary: £40,000 + Van + Tools + Benefits
Our client is looking for an experienced Telecommunications Engineer to join their team, supporting a wide range of telecoms projects across the Birmingham area and beyond. If you're hands-on, love problem-solving, and enjoy a mix of fieldwork and office-based tasks, we’d love to hear from you.
This role will see you working on everything from installing and maintaining telecoms systems, to fault-finding, upgrading infrastructure, and working closely with clients.
What you’ll be doing:
* Installing, configuring, and maintaining voice and data systems
* Working with PBX systems, VoIP, SIP, routers, switches, and fibre/copper cabling
* Diagnosing and resolving faults – both remotely and on-site
* Supporting customers across a variety of environments (commercial, industrial, etc.)
* Keeping clear documentation and job records
* Collaborating with the wider team on projects and upgrades
* Ensuring all work meets health & safety and industry standards
What we’re looking for:
* Previous experience in a telecoms engineering role
* Strong knowledge of VoIP, PBX, SIP, and broadband technologies
* Comfortable working with Cat5e/Cat6 cabling and fibre optics
* Good understanding of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls)
* Full UK driving licence (essential)
* Someone who’s organised, reliable, and happy working both independently and as part of a team
Bonus points for:
* Certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+)
* Experience with Mitel, Avaya, 3CX, or similar systems
* Any experience in structured cabling or CCTV is a plus
