Main duties of the job Children and young people with mental health problems are often accommodated in Children's Emergency Department (ChED), Penguin Assessment Unit (PAU) and Dolphin ward whilst receiving medical care and/or awaiting a mental health assessment. An increasing number of these Children and Young People (CYP) are then placed on a Section and detained under the Mental Health Act (MHA). This post holder with the Paediatric team will play a key role in supporting the management of these CYP. The post holder will also facilitate relevant training, supervision / debriefing and support the Paediatric team, and facilitate and act as the interface between ChED, PAU, Paediatric ward, Crisis Team for C&YP, All Age Eating Disorder (AAEDS) and Children and Young People Mental Health Service practitioners (CYPMHS). They will provide expertise and vision in developing and improving services for C&YP, support and deputise for the Clinical Nurse Lead for Mental Health (for paediatrics only).
