Your New Team & Role:
The Team at O’Hanlon & Farrell Contracts Ltd have promoted the company to one of Northern Ireland’s long-established Electrical & Building Contractors with over 40 years of valuable experience within numerous sectors, including the Industrial, Commercial and Domestic Construction sectors, throughout Ireland & UK.
O’Hanlon & Farrell is seeking to recruit a COMPANY ACCOUNTANT into a permanent, full-time position based in Newry. The role will encompass responsibility for all the administrative, control and reporting functions within the Finance department. You will play a key role within the company and report directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Leadership, Management & Support of the Finance Function
2. Preparation & Presentation of Monthly Project Financial Performance
3. Work with Quantity Surveyor Team to Monitor Project Valuations
4. Preparing Ad Hoc Finance reports
5. Review of all Payments (incl. Payroll, Supplier & Subcontractors Payments)
6. Quarterly Divisional Management Accounts (incl. Reconciliations)
7. Year End Management Accounts (incl. Audit Pack)
8. Cashflow Management & Budget/Forecast Preparation
9. Working closely with your Finance Team & Managing Director on all key financial aspects of reporting within the business
10. Adhering to all internal finance deadlines
11. On-site coordinator & first point of contact for Sage IT Support
12. Develop in-house efficiencies, process improvements, reporting systems & improve internal controls/procedures (including introduction & implementation of new systems)
13. Statutory Government returns ie. Vat, RCT & CIS
14. Being the first point of contact for external bodies, ie. Auditors etc.
What you’ll Need (Experience):
1. Experienced Qualified Accountant (ie. CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
2. A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a busy Finance function where you have managed others
3. Business Experienced with strong Controls & Procedures
4. Be Self-motivated and Results-oriented
5. Excellent systems skills including a strong grasp of Excel.
6. Deadline driven & a team player
7. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail & problem-solving
8. Construction Industry (desirable, but not essential)
9. Project Costing (desirable, but not essential)
