Casual Education Clerking Service Clerks
£19.75 per hour
Education Governance provides a high-quality clerking service for all schools and their Governing Boards to support them in providing the best education possible for their children and young people. We are expanding our successful clerking service team and are looking to recruit casual clerks, to start as soon as possible.
This role operates on a casual hours’ contract, at £18.95 per hour which includes the statutory entitlement to holiday allowance. While the working hours are variable, there will be the opportunity to agree on a number of meetings during the year when attached as a named clerk to a school, with the potential to take on additional meetings, as your time permits.
We want to recruit friendly, assertive, and self-starting individuals who have the motivation to work within a thriving and busy clerking service.
We are also looking for the successful applicants to have:
* Solid administration experience including, but not limited to, taking and typing up minutes, producing agendas, collation, and maintenance of various Board documents.
* The use of a private laptop and the ability to work effectively and to a good standard with packages such as Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and time management skills, as our clerks liaise directly with schools to organise meetings and set agendas.
* Significant experience of building and developing positive, pro-active, and effective working relationships with a diverse range of people.
Successful applicants will be supported by the Croydon Education Partnership with expert governance advice. As you will work for periods without direct supervision, it is desirable that you will either have some previous knowledge of school governance and the education system or be willing to learn and develop this. We provide a full Clerk induction and thereafter regular paid attendance at mandatory training will be expected, where you will be able to network with fellow clerks.
This role is not office-based; while some schools hold meetings virtually, others will require attendance at different schools in the local and neighbouring areas, therefore you should be able to travel reliably and arrive in good time for meetings.
Flexibility in terms of working hours will be required. The majority of meetings take place in the late afternoon/early evening although there may be the odd occasion where meetings take place within the school day.
