In order to ensure the smooth running of the service, the post holder will:
1. Participate in regular on-call commitments for acute General Medicine at St Peters, on a full-shift rota.
2. Provide both in-patient and out-patient care for patients in accordance with the Trust's contractual obligations.
3. Participate in the supervision and training of junior medical staff and offer guidance and advice to the wider MDT.
4. Maintain accurate record keeping for every patient seen and communication made with General Practitioners and other agencies.
5. Keep up to date in advances in current knowledge and practice.
6. Work with and implement service policies, guidelines, and protocols.
7. Participate in Trust training programmes to improve the quality of service provision.
8. Work within and demonstrate an understanding of the Clinical Governance agenda.
9. Conduct or participate in regular audit projects.
10. Undertake other duties as may be considered reasonable and appropriate.
11. Attend and participate in staff and group meetings as required.
12. Provide support to less experienced medical staff and nursing staff and be approachable when sought to provide advice on the clinic floor.
13. Liaise with colleagues in providing internal cover for annual leave and sick leave, which may require some flexibility in hours.
You must have wide experience in General (Internal) Medicine and be comfortable in the initial assessment and ongoing treatment of acutely ill adult medical patients with a wide variety of pathology. You will work under Consultant supervision and within a dedicated team at all times.
