This role: Our Product Engineers play a crucial role in our user and product experience. You will be focused on solving end-to-end product challenges in the best manner for our customers. Whilst you may have a natural inclination towards the backend, we expect you to delve into any aspect of our tech stack as necessary to have an impact on our customers and success of the business. You will be working on a team primarily focused on utilising external data and scanning to deliver valuable product outcomes to our customers. This is a recently added product area for us so there will be plenty of opportunity to make a significant impact to what we deliver. You’ll be collaborating on a daily basis with designers, product managers, other engineers and the wider business to create a great product experience and continuously ship value to our users. And as an engineer in a small but focused team, you will also have a long-standing impact on our engineering strategy, codebase and developer experience. In the role you will: Collaborate to deliver an exceptional product. From understanding initial needs to crafting usable solutions, you'll work directly with product managers and designers to bring ideas to life. And by that, we don’t just mean implement requirements. We like our engineers to learn as much as possible about our customers so that over time they can suggest new features, challenge assumptions and really contribute to making our customers’ lives better. Develop high quality systems and code. Working across our stack, you’ll design and develop the systems that underpin the Risk Ledger product and advance us towards our vision. It’s exciting You’ll have: Worked in multiple engineering teams focused on building a product ; weighing up delivering value to clients against technical improvement. Deep experience with backend development. Language preferably Go; if not Java or Python. Worked with SQL, Docker / Kubernetes, Postgres and AWS Worked with at least one messaging solution: Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS or SNS. Some commercial experience with frontend development. JavaScript and TypeScript, and when it comes to frameworks, preferably Vue, React or Angular. A desire to deeply understand our customers and the problems they face, in order to improve their day-to-day experience. An ability to thrive in ambiguity, tackling problems that might not be well defined and without obvious solutions. A keen sense of curiosity, with a natural drive to learn and grow. A passion to work collaboratively with others. We like to work as a team, not a collection of individuals and we expect you to have the same mindset. You might have: Participated in mentoring other members of your squad or team. While this role will be hands-on technical as an individual contributor, we do expect Seniors to take on some of this nurturing responsibility. A startup background. Involvement in data processing and integrating large datasets into a product. Experience being a key person in the designing of a non-trivial solution and working with others to implement. Worked with observability solutions (Kibana, Grafana, Sentry). Experience using further technologies we use (Terraform, AWS RDS, AWS ECS or EKS, AWS EventBridge).
