The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is the world’s leading think tank examining geopolitical and geo-economic risk from an international perspective, with a specialist expertise in risks with a national security dimension. The IISS has offices in London, Berlin, Singapore, Manama and Washington DC.
The IISS is seeking a Applications Developer to join our Technology department. The successful candidate will report to the Applications Manager and will be responsible for the delivery of both tactical technology solutions and strategic cloud-based, scalable production applications as part of the IT applications team. Responsibilities:
* Development of strategic cloud-based data management & analysis services as part of IISS ‘Dataverse’ project.
* Delivering interactive visualisations to support research publications and enhance our digital presence.
* Providing technical guidance, support and tactical solutions to support research and BAU business activities.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
* Knowledge of OO principles, design patterns & development best practices.
* Experience of Node.js, SQL server & secure Azure functions/app services.
* Experience of working with DevOps tools (GIT, Jira).
* Experience of providing initial support for existing applications including 3rd party systems such as CRM, Finance.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work with non-technical business users at all levels are essential.
