The Blood Sciences Department at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Higher Healthcare Science Support Worker to join our team.
The successful candidate will be based within the main Blood Sciences laboratory at Arrowe Park Hospital but will be required to cover the satellite laboratory based at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre when necessary.
The successful applicant must have good interpersonal and communication skills. High levels of concentration and attention to detail are required. Good time management skills and the ability to work well under minimal supervision are essential.
The post involves rotation throughout Specimen Reception, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
Main duties include receiving, checking, prioritising and preparing specimens, maintaining and operating automated and semi-automated equipment, performing and reporting external quality assurance, carrying out audits, stock control, and analysing specimens under the supervision of a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
