Electrical Engineer
Location: HPC Site, Bridgewater, Somerset (hybrid working)

The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is at the forefront of nuclear power innovation, responsible for designing and delivering the nuclear island for major projects like Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC).
In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will be responsible for managing mechanical calculations, including plates and electrical supports, and supporting the team on complex technical issues.
Your expertise will be essential in addressing field events such as clarification requests, adaptation requests, change requests, non-conformances, and open points.
You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and continuity of the design, reviewing and updating deliverables, and coordinating with back-office teams to find effective solutions.
Your ability to challenge input data, maintain consistency in design modifications, and uphold the interests of the Responsible Designer will be critical to the success of the project.
Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, you will contribute to the development of the Electrical discipline within the JDO by fostering strong relationships with back-office teams in Bristol, Paris, and Tours. Your technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities will be instrumental in driving innovation and improvements, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Who you are
You will have a background in Mechanical Engineering or something similar, along with excellent interpersonal skills, and organisational abilities.
Knowledge of VerifPlatines, the RCC-E code, and experience with 2D and 3D design software would be advantageous.
Additionally, fluency in French, prior field experience, and familiarity with the HPC project or previous EPR studies would be beneficial.
Ideally, you will have the ability to manage multiple interfaces, prioritise tasks effectively, and work seamlessly in a multicultural environment.
