Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer with a background in nuclear, based in the Suffolk, UK on a permanent basis. About the Opportunity We are seeking experienced Project Engineers to join a dynamic Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting key clients in the UK nuclear energy sector. This role is integral to a broad project and engineering portfolio operating across multiple UK sites. You will be mentored by seasoned project engineering professionals and provided with the training and opportunities needed to develop and enhance your project management and leadership skills, progressing to larger and more complex projects. You will work as part of a client-led team and report to the client's Project Manager, Programme Manager, or Construction Manager. While some flexibility for office and remote work may be available, the role will primarily be site-based. Key Responsibilities Produce and maintain engineering documentation, including quality plans and technical specifications. Manage technical queries following relevant processes and procedures. Support contractor selection processes and contract placement activities. Conduct technical reviews of contractor documents and drawings, performing technical appraisals of project options. Carry out feasibility studies, site surveys, and liaise with designers and engineering staff as required. Prepare engineering changes and manage supporting and affected documents. Develop commissioning documents and act as a test team leader where necessary. Support the Project Manager and Construction Manager in managing projects, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and effectively through to completion. Qualifications Chartered Engineer or HND qualification. Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification. A formal project management qualification and knowledge of modern project management techniques (preferred but not essential). Experience identifying, implementing, and adhering to applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards, procedures, and legislative requirements. Knowledge and experience in delivering construction projects under CDM regulations. Ideally, experience managing and delivering electrical power systems design and installation projects (e.g., national grid or electrical supply and distribution systems). Strong communication and organisational skills. Experience working at power stations or nuclear licensed sites (preferred but not essential).
