A caring and supportive personal assistant is required for a gorgeous, energetic little boy with a very unique character. Living in the Penzance area.
He is seven-years old and has a diagnosis of autism. He is non-verbal and communicates using a range of visual aids. However, like many children with autism, he can also display challenging behaviours that require understanding and patience. He thrives outdoors and loves trips to the woods, beach and local parks.
I am looking for someone experienced in working with children with additional needs, who is able to support my son's communication and sensory needs, promote his independence, and, most importantly, have some fun with him.
The hours are part time and support will primarily be required on weekends, including two Sundays per month, with additional hours available during school holidays.
The hourly rate is £12.60, plus mileage.
Experience or knowledge of working with young people with SEND is essential. A driving licence and access to your own vehicle is also essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
