Manual Machinist Assembler
Location: Poole
Salary: Negotiable
Our client, who specializes in Precision Engineering, is looking for a skilled Manual Machinist to join their growing team! This role is multi-skilled; while it is primarily Manual Machining, they will provide any necessary training on the assembling/fitting aspects.
Manual Machinist Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Using manual lathes & mills with DRO
2. Cutting threads on manual mills and lathes
3. Working with various material grades, selecting the correct tools for the material grade
4. Completing internal/external surface finishes
5. Using spot-facing machining to cover in other departments
6. Checking work with inspection equipment (bore comparators, bore mics, vernier, caliper gauges, air gauges)
Assembler Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Using fitting tools, i.e., presses and hand tools preferable
2. Using aerospace jointing compounds, e.g., PR1770
3. Staking bushes and bearings
4. Beading using air-fed machines
5. Part marking
6. Pressure testing
The ideal Manual Machinist / Assembler will have:
1. Extensive manual machining experience on XYZ lathes and mills
2. Fitting and assembly experience is preferable but not essential
3. Fully skilled time-served machinist, apprentice trained preferably
4. Experience working within aerospace, familiar with AS9100 and material traceability
5. Must be used to working to tight limits ≤ ±.001” (.025mm)
6. Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and job cards
