The Opportunity:
* The Environmental Engineer (Water) will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of Wyoming Refining Company’s wastewater treatment system to include compliance monitoring and regulatory reporting.
* The Environmental Engineer will report directly to the Environmental Manager and will work with a team of individuals consisting of additional Environmental Engineers and Environmental Technicians.
Key activities include:
Program Management:
* Oversee water quality monitoring, compliance, record keeping, and reporting for: Wyoming Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WyPDES) program.
* Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) program.
* Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPP).
* Benzene National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP).
* Ensure the wastewater system is fully functioning and kept in good repair.
* Investigate wastewater incidents to determine cause and implement corrective actions.
* Identify opportunities to improve the performance of wastewater systems and make recommendations for future projects and initiatives.
* Manage and support capital projects as needed.
* Provide support for other environmental media (air, soil, hazardous waste) as needed.
Environmental Compliance:
* Ensure local, state, and federal environmental regulations are being met.
* Ensure all regulatory reports are complete, correct, and submitted on time.
* Ensure prompt reporting of permit deviations to proper agencies.
Team Cooperation:
* Develop and maintain effective relationships throughout Wyoming Refining Company’s organization.
* Work closely with other Environmental team members.
* Work closely and routinely interact with the Operations Department to ensure their awareness of current wastewater system status and inform them of any changes that are required to be made.
* Serve as a member of the Environmental Department’s on-call team.
Qualifications:
* To meet the basic qualifications for this role, candidates must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
* A bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or a related field is required.
* Three years of experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
* Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to analyze data and make sound decisions based on that data.
Excellent problem-solving skills:
* Must be able to identify a problem, determine the data needed to evaluate the situation, and be proactive in using internal and external resources to develop solutions.
* Ability to read and understand technical guidance documents such as state and federal codes, standards, and permits.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Must have a safe driving record and possess a valid driver's license throughout employment.
* Must be able to pass all required pre-employment testing requirements.
