We are currently seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our multi-disciplinary team which provides specialist CAMHS input to children and young people with eating disorders across Hertfordshire. The post itself will involve providing clinical leadership to the Community Mental Health Team covering patients living in Hertfordshire.
The range of care includes: intensive home based support for high risk cases, community based support to provide early intervention to all ED cases, specific ED based therapy working on recovery (including CBT-E, MET, CRT, and family therapy using Maudsley model), psychiatric monitoring and intervention when required.
This post is based in the CAMHS Eating disorders community team in Radlett. It is to support the community eating disorders team with undertaking psychiatric assessments of young people referred to the service with an eating disorder. The post holder is to support medical monitoring and medical management alongside the specialist nursing team and clinical team. The post holder is to assess and manage eating disorders and co-morbid mental health conditions.
Main duties of the job
1. Provision of the psychiatric component of the CAMHS tier 3 service to the under 18 population in the Eating Disorder CAMHS Team.
2. Alongside the multi-disciplinary staff, the post holder will have responsibility for assessing a young person's mental state, formulating a diagnosis and monitoring the risks a young person poses.
3. To undertake referral meetings, case reviews as required.
4. Providing consultation, advice and appropriate support to professionals in the wider network of the young person and/or family.
5. To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
6. To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively and submit this promptly to the Information Department.
7. To participate annually in a job plan review with the line manager, which will include consultation with a relevant manager to ensure that the post is developed to take into account changes in service configuration and delivery associated with modernisation.
8. To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services, and share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. The post holder will offer 10-12 contacts/ week in the Kingsley Green clinic, with 1- 2 new contacts/clinic in the 3 clinics assigned for new assessments.
2. The medical team also supervises the activity of the Medical Monitoring Clinic and advises clinicians completing the reviews.
3. They work closely with the paediatric and medical teams in general hospitals in closely monitoring the young people at high risk and awaiting admission in CAMHS ED services (variable number 4-8).
4. To undertake outpatient clinics, home visits and participate in multidisciplinary case discussions.
5. To liaise effectively with primary care and mainstream mental health services.
6. To have regular clinical supervision with the consultant psychiatrist. It is the post holders responsibility to ensure that this is booked.
7. To work closely with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies in health and social care as appropriate.
8. To assess risk and manage this with the help of the multidisciplinary team.
9. To undertake assessments for psychiatric conditions in children and initiate treatment working closely with the MDT.
10. To attend regularly and contribute to the MDT discussions.
11. To make appropriate referrals as needed and work closely with partner organisations.
12. To participate in regular Audit and Quality Assurance programmes to improve and maintain the high standard of service. Participation in POMH audits is encouraged.

Qualifications
Essential
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable
* MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Eligibility
Essential
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Desirable
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
* Section 12/Approved clinician approval.
Clinical skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* A minimum of 4 years' full time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time of flexible basis) at least two years of which to be within a psychiatry training programme or as fixed term Specialty Trainee within psychiatry or have equivalent experience and competencies.
* Minimum of 6 months experience within CAMHS.
* Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psychosocial perspective and wide medical knowledge.
Desirable
* Clinical experience in a range of services within Psychiatry.
* Excellent degree of medical knowledge in relation to eating disorders.
