Overview
Our private client and tax team is looking to hire a Tax and Accounts Manager in Guildford. The successful candidate will join a highly respected team dedicated to private wealth advice, UK and international tax planning and asset protection, advising individuals, family offices, family businesses and fiduciaries. The team has the support of leading practitioners from a number of practice areas across the firm, when required.
Responsibilities
The workload will include:
* Undertaking fee-earning work and providing a profitable contribution to the work of the division.
* Contributing to the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan and firm's commonality of purpose.
* Delivering a high quality commercial legal service ensuring personal compliance with quality standards and professional ethics.
* Providing direct assistance to the Trust and Tax Director and tax/accountancy support to the wider Private Client team.
* Liaising with clients, intermediaries and tax authorities in a clear and relevant manner.
* Identifying tax-planning opportunities for clients.
* Supporting the development of Trainee Trusts & Accounts Manager.
* Preparation of:
o Trust and estate accounts accurately.
o Company and personal, estate and trust tax computations.
o HM Revenue & Customs forms associated.
o Various accounting reports for UK and overseas tax compliance matters.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
* Enthusiastic and motivated to learn at a fast pace, with the desire to further increase knowledge.
* A strong team orientation, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the team's strategic aims.
* Competent user of business information systems and in particular an advanced user of MS Excel.
* Must have completed or be close to completing ATT qualification (or equivalent), along with having specialist knowledge of relevant area of law.
* Receptive to facilitate and support change.
* Comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work; appreciation of fee earner needs and constraints; commercially aware.
* Achieve the competencies for an Associate level member of the team.
