Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
Axcis Education is collaborating with a secondary school in Keynsham to recruit a dedicated Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA). This full-time position commences in January 2025, with a daily rate that starts from £83.40. Following an initial settling-in period, the role offers the potential for a permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, facilitating their access to the curriculum.
2. Develop and implement individualised programmes aimed at enhancing emotional literacy, including:
1. Recognising and understanding personal and others' emotions.
2. Expanding emotional vocabulary.
3. Managing stress, anxiety, anger, and conflict.
4. Improving social interactions and friendship skills.
5. Fostering a positive self-concept and self-esteem.
3. Collaborate with teaching staff, the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), and external professionals to identify and support students requiring emotional and behavioural assistance.
4. Maintain accurate records of interventions and monitor student progress.
5. Participate in training sessions and supervision led by educational psychologists to ensure the delivery of effective support.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Previous experience in a similar role or working with children exhibiting SEMH needs is advantageous but not essential.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
3. Capacity to work independently, demonstrating initiative and effective time management.
4. Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
5. A genuine passion for supporting the emotional and social development of young people.
