Join us and become a part of the UHL Centralised Decontamination Unit!
The Decontamination team is responsible for the timely processing of equipment for Endoscopy, Theatres, and the Alliance. This role supports the procurement, storage, and transport of sterile equipment.
You will be expected to work individually and as an integral member of the team within theatres and ITAPS Decontamination and Sterilisation team, and work according to the department’s policies and procedures, upholding Trust policy.
Weekend and evening work will be considered.
A full clean UK driving license is desirable for this post.

Main duties of the job
1. Processing equipment for services including Endoscopy, Urology, Theatres, and the Alliance.
2. Operating a sterilisation machine.
3. Collecting and delivering used and clean equipment from and to Theatres, Wards, and Departments cross-site.
4. Monitoring stock levels.
5. Participating in the Trust’s Mandatory Training Programme (Moving & Handling, Fire Training, and Health & Safety).
6. Maintaining your skills as agreed in your appraisal and outlined in the KSF Training Programme.
7. Participating in the Department’s Training Programme to assist and maintain your skills.
8. Being aware of the Trust's Policy and Procedures on the handling of Infected Surgical equipment.
9. Undertaking other duties as requested by the Department Manager which are within the scope of the post and the demonstrated competency of the post holder.
10. Maintaining a high standard of proficiency against the department's Quality performance requirements.
Please note a driving license, while not essential, is an advantage as the successful candidates will need to work cross-site.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Checking and rotating consumables.
2. Liaising with services to ensure equipment is available in a timely manner.
3. Ensure that the Decontamination transport trolleys are cleaned internally and externally on a daily basis. Other work areas are kept neat & tidy, and that work practices are upheld.
4. Liaising with the team leader on a daily basis.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
