Application Deadline: 1 November 2024 Department: Quality Location: National Office Compensation: £30,000 per annum Description The Health and Safety Coordinator will play a key administrative role in managing the day-to-day coordination of health and safety procedures across the organisation. This includes organising and maintaining compliance documentation, scheduling regular safety audits, and liaising with services and departments to ensure that all health and safety protocols are adhered to. Leading on all aspects of H&S. the postholder will work in partnership with operational, quality and estates colleagues, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for both staff and the people we support across the entire organisation. The primary role will be to advise Managers on all Health and safety matters and ensure compliance within our statutory obligations. The post holder will be required to ensure that the implications and duties imposed by new Acts of Parliament, Statutory bodies, H.S.E. Guidance Notes and Codes of Practice are brought to the attention of the Director of Operations and Quality to ensure they are embedded within policy and process at both a service and organisational level. Coordinating and overseeing adherence across services and central support in compliance across H&S policy, legislation and processes. Key Responsibilities General Understand the application of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to Together and the health and social care sector. Keep abreast of policy and legislative changes and updating organisational policies and procedures to reflect said changes. Support the annual review of all health and safety polices processes and risk assessments. Liaise with learning & development and finance colleagues on H&S training requirements for the workforce and service specific needs. Facilitate and maintain robust lines of communication with services and our workforce in all matters pertaining to H&S adherence and compliance within legislation, policies & procedures and process. Ensuring adequate means of disseminating and communicating health and safety information and changes obtained via H.S.E, CQC and other statutory bodies and our workforce reps council regarding new guidance and process in relation to prevention, updated legislation and codes of practice. Coordinate and monitor adherence across the organisation to audit and process including identified actions, additionally DSE, environmental risk assessments, H&S and ICP audits, fire and water safety. Support the Director of Operations and Quality within organising and facilitation of the quarterly `People and Places` H&S meetings. Research and assess control measures and advice on the standard of PPE to be provided to our workforce and the facilitation of supply. Conduct regular audits and compliance checks, compiling reports across all areas of operations and national office. Coordinate action tracking and escalate to the relevant HRO/department lead if any corrective action following a workplace inspection is not implemented by the agreed date. Advise on any incidents reportable under RIDDOR. Immediately contact the HRO`s/department lead if situations are found, that require immediate rectification or the stopping of any activity or service, including the triggering of BCP`s. Highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards mandated by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance. Recommend new techniques and process to the director of operations and quality within improving the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce. Governance, Record Keeping & IT Work alongside the quality team in monitoring the delivery of high-quality safe services and workplace safety. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all departments and services within the organisation to ensure joined up working and good practice. Personal/Standard To participate in the staff appraisal scheme Take an active role in regular supervision meetings with a nominated supervisor Highlight own training needs and ongoing development to ensure an adequate knowledge base to undertake role. Take responsibility for the effective management of own time Lead by example within own practice around all H&S matters, use of correct PPE, observing good practice standards To keep up to date with developments within H&S by reading relevant journals, attending relevant meetings and attending relevant courses/seminars to enable accurate interpretation and implementation of any related legislation and regulation. To undertake any other duties and activities which support the achievement of the role Work alongside all colleagues within the organisational values and in delivering the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders Other Work flexibly and remotely visiting services that are geographically spread where required. Promote, monitor and maintain health and safety and security in the workplace Work in a way that ensures the service is delivered in compliance with relevant legislation, policies and practices and contractual requirements within H&S activities. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Essential: Relevant experience of working in a health and safety related field Ability to respond to service and workforce needs promptly, in a flexible, consistent and appropriate way High emotional resilience for dealing with potential verbal abuse and threatening behaviour Able to coordinate and implement robust H&S policy, process and changes within services and across the organisation.
