Job Overview
We are looking for a good team player to provide high quality patient services. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in Phlebotomy, preferably in a General Practice setting. The purpose of the role is to assist the nursing team and clinicians in the service and delivery of the care management of the Practice population. The post holder works under indirect supervision of the Senior Practice Nurse and undertakes tasks and duties delegated by the clinical team or a suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the General Practice team to meet the needs of patients, following Practice policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Performing venepuncture, in accordance with Practice procedures and protocols
2. Processing and management of laboratory samples, in accordance with Practice procedures and protocols, and considering courier collection times
3. Restock/maintenance of all phlebotomy equipment within the treatment room
4. Chaperoning
5. Making new, and follow-up appointments
6. Liaising with multidisciplinary team members, external agencies such as Secondary Care and community service providers
7. Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
8. Use of software as required to message patients
9. Processing of workflow/tasks
10. Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or Managers
Person Specification
Essential
1. Phlebotomy trained, using a variety of approved equipment, e.g., butterfly needles and vacutainer
2. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Experience
Essential
1. Experience in venepuncture
2. Knowledge of IT systems, including ability to use word processing skills, email, and the internet
Desirable
1. Experience of using SystmOne
