About the opportunity
As a Housekeeping / Laundry Attendant, you will be responsible for:
* Supporting the Life Enriching Activity Lead/Life Enriching Activity Co-ordinators in implementing a whole home approach to the provision of meaningful occupation for all residents, taking a proactive attitude towards the engagement of all residents at all times.
* Taking responsibility for the completion of all daily housekeeping schedules.
* Ensuring all rooms and communal areas are clean, tidy, prepared, and presented to the highest standards set out by the departmental SOPs.
* Restocking trollies at the end of each shift and storing all cleaning equipment in a tidy manner.
* Delivering clean towels to the allocated room and helping keep all linen rooms and trollies clean and tidy.
* Managing the day-to-day operations of the laundry room while ensuring all uniforms and laundry supplies are cleaned to the highest standards.
* Ensuring compliance with instructions issued by the Head Housekeeper regarding the use of laundry equipment, materials, and chemicals.
* Promptly answering all laundry-related queries in a professional manner.
* Undertaking all laundry duties to the highest possible standard.
* Ensuring resident satisfaction where possible and reporting any complaints to the Head Housekeeper immediately.
* Ensuring that all residents and their family members feel at home in a comfortable, cared for, well-maintained, and impeccable environment.
* Practicing the correct use and care of all items of equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, trolleys, carpet cleaners, and steam cleaners.
* Reporting any malfunction of equipment immediately.
* Ensuring correct use of all cleaning agents on all surfaces as directed.
* Reporting any damage, wear and tear, or maintenance issues arising in any of your working areas to the Manager.
* Reporting any accidents or incidents to the Hospitality Manager.
* Complying with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
* Presenting residents' rooms to KYN’s standards whilst respecting our residents' wishes.
* Completing the opening/closing checklists on a daily basis.
* Utilising the resources within the department effectively.
* Collecting and sorting soiled and fouled linen into correct categories.
* Operating all laundry equipment safely.
* Ensuring all items are laundered, checking the labels for correct washing and ironing instructions.
* Ensuring all personal clothing items are clearly marked with the resident’s name, and if not, re-marking before returning to the resident’s room.
* Sorting and returning laundered items to residents’ rooms or appropriate linen cupboards.
* Ensuring that the laundry equipment and laundry area is clean.
* Replenishing auto dosing detergents and additives.
* Contributing towards the induction and training of new team members.
* Being responsible for the health and safety of self, other team members, residents, and visitors under the Health and Safety and infection control regulations.
* Reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge or taking other appropriate action within the remit of your training and knowledge.
* Attending all statutory training sessions ensuring that practices reflect the learning outcomes of the training.
* Responding in a polite and professional manner to residents and never entering a resident’s room without knocking.
* Ensuring residents are treated with dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
* Complying with KYN’s dress code whilst on duty.
* Adhering to all KYN’s policies and procedures.

* Experience in a similar role.
