A young man living in a village just outside of Beverley is seeking a support worker for part-time hours.
Hours available are 4 days per week – 4 hours per day – across 7 days per week – days to be discussed at interview – flexibility available.
The young man has a rare form of Down syndrome and has complex multiple needs and vulnerable medical conditions which require protective factors/processes and strict guidelines to be adhered to. Covid guidelines are still upheld due to susceptibility and a compromised immune system and breathing disorder. Candidates are to be vigilant and provide constant supervision, guidance, encouragement, and support to the young man in everyday tasks.
The role is to support the young man in the home environment and occasional outings. Within the home, support is required to help maintain daily routines and to engage in activities.
Duties include personal care, ensuring toilet needs are met and personal hygiene maintained. Support is required with meal preparation and assisting the young man to eat.
Maintaining a clean and hygienic meal environment, some domestic support, and possible assistance with collecting medication and shopping are also required.
The candidate must be sensitive to the needs of the individual, promoting privacy and dignity. The successful applicant will have an understanding nature and be supportive and patient, with the ability to manage situations and vulnerabilities.
Experience of working with children and adults with special needs is essential.
A car driver with their own vehicle and business use is essential.
Training will be provided that is relevant and required for the role.
Travel
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required; applicants must be able to transport themselves.
