We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Solutions Architect to join our busy team in Bristol (hybrid). The Solution Architect will play a critical role in leading, supporting and guiding the effective delivery of solutions that drive value and achieve successful business outcomes.
What will you be doing?
The Solutions Architect will provide expert consultancy, design architectural blueprints for current, transitional, and future states, and ensure the integration of new and existing systems aligns with our enterprise architecture framework, defined by IOP Publishing’s Enterprise Solution Architect.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, and architecture consultancy. They will be responsible for evaluating new and existing systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, fit for use, and aligned with industry best practices.
Key job accountabilities:
* Provide solution consultancy, blueprinting as-is, transition and to-be states.
* Provide a bridge between overarching enterprise viewpoint and individual projects, new products and services.
* Evaluating new and existing systems to identify opportunities for improvements, re-use, optimisation and efficiencies.
* Input to non-functional requirements for new business system evaluation, selection, and implementations.
* Architectural assessment of solutions in progress, fitness for purpose, fitness for use, suitability for being part of the IOP Publishing technical estate.
* Solution assurance touch points with internal and 3rd party delivery teams during build, testing and delivery of solutions.
* Risk assessments of existing systems, or new solutions that diverge from architectural framework.
* Post-delivery architectural reviews.
* Understanding Requirements: work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, goals, and challenges.
* Designing Solutions: create high-level solutions that integrate different systems and technologies.
* Technical Leadership: provide technical guidance and support to the development team, ensuring the solution aligns with the architectural vision.
The successful applicant should demonstrate the following:
* Solution architecture experience, conforming to enterprise architecture framework.
* Architecture consultancy experience, supporting business functions and projects.
* Software architecture and design.
* Change management experience.
* Computer science degree or equivalent experience.
* Broad understanding of enterprise technologies.
* Good knowledge of appropriate tools, technologies and practices.
* Agile, DevOps, Cloud and SaaS.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Excellent stakeholder management.
