Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our wonderful teams of midwives and obstetricians as a Senior Midwifery manager for our community teams, midwifery led unit and screening team to continue to develop our maternity services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate midwife who wants to make a difference, by implementing quality improvement initiatives and continue to build our community services. Your role will play a key part in improving the service we provide to our clients in Whipps Cross University Hospital alongside our vision of maternity transformation. You will be working closely with obstetric and midwifery teams to implement national strategy and drive the message of quality care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be accountable for overall provision of excellent, evidence-based care within the areas of responsibility. They will also work in collaboration with all the relevant multidisciplinary teams, agencies, and service users, to continuously improve the care that is provided.
The post holder has a specific responsibility to support the promotion of high standards of care, and to embed patient safety. This will be through effective translation of learning from incidents and embedding this at a service level. The successful candidate must be able to support clinically when required and will be a role model who can lead and coordinate wherever necessary in relation to the post.

Qualifications
* Registered midwife
* First Degree or Graduate level education
* Relevant experience and working towards a master’s level.
* Evidence of recent post registration continuous registration/development
* Management Qualification
* Working towards a Masters
* NIPE trained
Experience
* Experience as a Band 7 or above
* Able to demonstrate a track record in implementing change
* Able to demonstrate experience in training and developing staff
* Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams
* Experience of working with staff at all levels
* Prior experience of writing reports/complaint responses/ serious incident reports
* Experience of chairing management meetings
* Experience of leading projects/ programmes with measurable outcomes
Knowledge
* Clear understanding of the national and local Maternity strategy /agenda and wider healthcare agenda
* Knowledge of Antenatal and newborn screening
* Able to appropriately convey complex ideas and information to audiences, at all levels across an organisation and to stakeholders, through a range of media.
