The Supervisor at Biffa is responsible for overseeing and guiding the engineering team to achieve optimal performance. This role requires effectively addressing operational engineering needs and efficiently managing workloads to minimise downtime. It demands a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to lead the team towards operational excellence.
You will support the work of others through developing their skills & implementing best practice. Your work will support the continuous improvement of a safe and high performing culture within the engineering teams.

* Take responsibility for day-to-day engineering functions ensuring prioritisation of the engineering teams' workload.
* Control/ Develop/ Improve a planned preventative maintenance and inspection programme to minimise downtime, provide records of recurrent faulting and develop engineered solutions.
* Provide high operational availability, and an efficient breakdown repair service. Diagnosis running faults and ensuring effective repairs and improvements are conducted within minimum time scale.
* Ensure productivity and availability exceeds minimum defined standards, whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations.
* To liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work in accordance with Group procedures. 6. Control plant maintenance, spares, and consumable costs in line with budget, ensuring critical stock levels are maintained
* Manage shift handovers to ensure effective communication of works orders and priorities.
* Keep abreast of changes to health & safety and environmental legislation and Company policies to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented.
* Ensure compliance with all Company policies, processes, and procedures.
* Review maintenance activities, implementing necessary corrective actions as required.
* Responsible for monitoring and controlling engineering team shift coverage, holidays, and absence reporting
* To carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks as the Company may require.

* Level 3 Qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
* Previous leadership experience
* CMMS experience
* Budget / P&L management skills
