The Team You Will Join
This Head of Propositions role leads the Propositions team and sits within the UK Product, Data and Underwriting function, supporting Individual Protection (IP) and Employee Benefits (EB) business lines. The Head of Propositions role supports the delivery of the UK propositions roadmap, from ideation through to market delivery.
The Opportunity
The Head of Propositions will be developing and maintaining market-leading Value Propositions for Individual Protection and Employee Benefits, in partnership with Distribution and Marketing, and ownership of the take-to-market strategy. The Head of Proposition will identify and optimize our relationships with external service providers. Benchmarking our propositions against market developments and feedback from Sales and Distribution. Cross-functional collaboration and internal stakeholder relationship management. Media communication and industry presence to articulate our proposition for customers. Technical management and support. Leadership and people development.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
* Developing and maintaining market-leading propositions
* Strategic clarity on role and value of each proposition
* Design customer research to identify customer needs and aspirations
* Think creatively, innovate and take into account market developments and competitor offerings
* Design and propose a roadmap for Propositional development and evolution
* Work with stakeholders and team to justify propositional fair value for customers
* Relationships with external service providers
* Benchmark existing service providers against alternatives in the market
* Ongoing relationship management and governance process of existing service providers, customers and partners
* Measuring performance of our service providers and derive insights on customer behaviour, usage and business opportunity
* Maintain ongoing tender process to negotiate competitive fees and ensure best service for MetLife’s customers and meeting standards of MetLife’s procurement process
* Benchmarking against the market and measuring customer outcomes
* Monitoring our proposition against market standards, measuring customer outcomes, and meeting regulatory requirements to demonstrate fair value, meeting Consumer Duty, and taking care of Vulnerable Customers
* Review existing product literature, terms and conditions for appropriateness
* Monitoring of competitor developments and activities, turning knowledge into actionable insight
* Cross-functional collaboration
* Work closely with other members of the Product team to achieve optimal results, as well as with Distribution, Marketing, Data, IT, Operations, Risk & Compliance, and external distributors.
* Maintain good working relationships with other senior stakeholders at a UK, EMEA and Corporate level
* Demonstrate leadership in people development, coaching and mentoring direct reports to achieve excellent performance and drive commercial outcomes, including a clear commitment to further education and enhancing qualifications in the Insurance field
* Media communication and industry presence
* Establish presence for MetLife in the media, spokesperson on propositional developments and MetLife UK’s stance on key matters
* Work closely with Marketing and Communications to increase our profile in the media, key trade publications, industry forums, articulating our proposition
* Strategic thinking on corporate messaging and our positioning on key matters
* Technical management and support
* Answering of technical queries relating to our propositions, master trusts, value-add services, terms and conditions. Ability to source information from other functions or external sources where required.
* Compliance with regulatory requirements and monitoring of regulatory developments, analysis of implications for our propositions.
* Addressing regulatory requests for information
* Development and management of product literature content, mapping of individual product series to individual terms and conditions
* Delivery of product and technical training to Sales and other stakeholders as they arise
* Drafting of tests for Sales prior to Product launch
What You Need To Succeed (Required Qualifications)
* Proven leadership experience
* Relevant experience in the UK protection market
* Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with different stakeholders
* Strong commercial and strategic mindset
* Take ownership and personal responsibility for delivering timely, high-quality work
* Attention to detail
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Ability to source and collate data, draw conclusions and present findings
* Quick learner from experience
* Ability to work under pressure
