An opportunity has arisen for a Management Accounts Assistant to work in the Trust's Management Accounts Team.
We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our Management Accounts team based at 200 Lichfield Lane, Mansfield, Notts.
Main duties of the job
The role will entail supporting the Management Accounts Function in providing accurate financial information, advice, and support to Trust service managers, as well as working on a range of ad hoc projects.
This post requires somebody with GCSE Maths and English at grades A-C or equivalent, NVQ level 3 in an appropriate subject or AAT intermediate level or equivalent level of knowledge.
You should have a basic knowledge of finance and an understanding of how NHS finances operate.
Good IT skills including competence with Excel or equivalents, word processing etc., and communication skills are essential. You will be required to work to deadlines and therefore have the ability to prioritise effectively and be flexible in your approach to your working hours.
Job responsibilities
1. Active role in the month/year financial end close down of the general ledger for the relevant area in accordance with agreed timescales/deadlines.
2. Assist with the costing of the financial plan and provide standard staffing costs to managers as required. Preparation and distribution of reports to service managers in accordance with required timetables.
3. Analyse and interpret financial transactions. Investigate financial queries in order to identify material errors or discrepancies. Input and manipulate financial data into computer databases and spreadsheets, where speed and accuracy are necessary.
4. Participate in financial plan and budget setting exercise by providing reports as required to the Management Accountant, Finance Partners, and Deputy Heads of Finance.
5. Review own working arrangements and propose changes to working practices and procedures. Assist as required in the further development/updates of systems and processes.
6. Ensure that professional interaction with others leads to positive and supportive relationships with service managers, managers, and corporate colleagues including external agencies.
7. Shared responsibility for the following:
1. Monitoring and issue of controlled stationery
2. Co-ordination of annual leave
3. Ad-hoc tasks integral to the functioning of the Management Accounts pool
8. Works within set routines with little direct supervision but refers to manager where necessary. Working within Trust policies and procedures as required and advising managers of the same.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE in Maths and English at grades A-C or equivalent
* NVQ level 3 in appropriate subject or AAT intermediate level or equivalent level of knowledge
* Studying to complete AAT or equivalent
Training
* Willingness to continue personal/professional development.
Experience
* Experience within a Finance environment
* Experience of using computerised accounting systems
Skills
* Good IT skills - must be competent at Excel or equivalent, Word Processing etc.
* Possess numerical and analytical skills to problem solve and find solutions.
* Good oral and written communication skills and have the ability to convey financial issues to non-finance managers.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and respond flexibly.

* Clear and effective numeric reasoning skills.
* Willing to adapt to the changing needs of the service.
* Able to use own initiative and to work to tight deadlines.
Knowledge
* Basic understanding of how NHS Finance operates.
* Awareness of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's activities.
