SEND Teaching Assistants Required in Specialist Schools Across East Sussex We are supporting a network of specialist schools dedicated to providing exceptional education and support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across East Sussex. Job Description: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with a range of SEND requirements. Working closely with experienced teachers and other professionals, you will provide tailored assistance to students, helping them access the curriculum, develop key skills, and reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND, both in the classroom and during activities. Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials and activities to meet the individual needs of students. Support students with personal care tasks, mobility, and other daily activities as required. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported, valued, and respected. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure the holistic development and well-being of students. Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in regular reviews and meetings. Requirements: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school setting or through voluntary work. A genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of students with diverse needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers. Patience, empathy, and resilience when faced with challenges or setbacks. Relevant qualifications or training in supporting individuals with SEND (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Autism Awareness training) - (Desirable but not essential) A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
