Procurement Manager – Raw Materials

A developer and manufacturer of pharmaceutical products based in Bedfordshire is hiring for a Procurement Manager for their Raw Materials division. As part of the Purchasing and Supply team, your core remit will be management of the procurement of raw materials and third party finished goods, ensuring consistency of supply and good networks in the raw material market.
Responsibilities:
* Develop new and maintain existing supplier base for raw materials, ensuring minimum disruption to supply chain and maximizing cost of supply, quality, and favorable terms.
* Strategic planning to ensure continuity of supply; monitoring and forecasting inventory.
* Own and drive cost-saving efficiencies for the purchase of raw materials; negotiate price and lead-times, set SLAs.
* Work alongside the Pharmaceutical Development and Technical Supply Manager to introduce new suppliers.
* Utilize the company ERP system to maintain an accurate database of raw material suppliers, including locations, specialties, and points of contact.
* Ensure all paperwork required by MHRA and other regulatory bodies is completed and stored correctly according to protocol.
* Liaise with suppliers regarding quality issues, resolving and implementing a policy of continuous improvement.
* Plan and coordinate activities within the wider raw materials team, working closely with the Raw Materials Planner Buyer.
* Provide input into the new product development process, offering advice and guidance on raw material factors.
* Attend supplier site locations, industry exhibitions, and host suppliers locally.
Your Background:
* Stable work history in the procurement of raw materials/chemicals within a regulated environment such as pharmaceuticals or food (minimum 2 years).
* Current working knowledge of ERP-based purchasing systems (IFS preferred).
* Strong commercial acumen with high attention to detail and a methodical approach.
* Good influencing and negotiation skills; solutions-focused, enjoys research and applying an analytical approach.
* Some exposure to change management would be helpful.
* Enjoys being part of a cohesive team – supportive, collaborative, and takes pride in working towards the bigger picture in a busy and demanding manufacturing setting.
