Applications are invited for a Consultant General Surgeon based in Raigmore. The successful applicant will have a broad experience of general and gastrointestinal surgery with a subspecialty interest in upper GI surgery. This will be on a full time basis of 10PAs, with 2 EPAs available and will be expected to participate in the on-call rota on a 1:12 basis.
The Department of General Surgery comprises of 14 consultant general surgeons providing benign and resectional surgery for Oesophago-gastric, HPB and Colorectal disease. This post forms part of the Upper GI/General Surgery team and includes a focus on helping to deliver our diagnostic targets for cancer and supporting our remobilisation plan for elective surgery. The post holder would be expected to be able to have skills in elective and emergency general and Upper GI surgery, including JAG accreditation for endoscopy.
The General Surgical Service in Raigmore is supported by new and excellent ITU/HDU facilities; a radiology department with modern cross sectional imaging with two CT scanners and two MRI scanners; endoscopy unit and theatres with full range of laparoscopic equipment. Raigmore

We are a highly active research unit; projects include biomarker discovery, telemedicine apps, clinical trials, simulation in training, and clinical education. The wider Department includes Breast and Urology teams, and there are visiting paediatric, plastic and neurosurgical consultant staff.
